I remembered the last year Blogfest, it was a huge success for the grand eyeball of bloggers, online writers and the speakers were great. I learned a lot about blogging on that day. But now what makes more exciting for Blogfest Soccsksargen 2.0 is that they invited powerful and great speaker. One of them is my former boss Mr. Bob Martin. He run so many successful websites and online business.

I never meet Mae Paner but I've heard she is really good and no dull moments when she's on the floor. I really want to see her in person and listen on what she's going to share.

DOLEFIL Chairs for Trees Project

DOLEFIL Chairs for Trees Project is a program that was launched in 2003 by the Dolefil company. It promotes environmental protection advocacy through the recycling of the Company's wooden pallets into useful colorful armchairs which are reciprocated through planting trees by the beneficiaries.

Last week we had our Dolefil CSR Tour (Corporate Social Responsibilities). It was a quick tour with SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers.

Dolefil with their partner cooperative shows us the process on how they recycled the wooden pallets into colorful armchairs. Our first visit was at Unified Engineering and Manpower Services Multi-Purpose Cooperative located at Polomolok, South Cotabato where chairs being made.

From pallet the carpenter dismantle it , cut then assemble to make a chair and painted it. The company pays the cooperative P270.00 per chair fabricated. With the help of Mahintana Foundation, Inc., these chairs chairs are distributed to beneficiary institutions like public schools, churhes and day-care centers.

As reciprocating action they must plant a tree to the designated area in the school. The Company through Mahintana Foundation, Inc. regularly checks the planted trees' survival. The beneficiaries must able to achieve at least 80% survival rate for their planted trees. As you can see the photos below is the Upper Klinan Elementary School one of the beneficiary. The kids are full happiness with their new chairs.

I won! I won! I won! I was hesitant at first to join the said contest "Blogfest SOCCSKSARGEN 2010 Photo Safari" because I know a lot of bloggers are good in photography. It was my first time to be there so I was curious if what kind of pizza do they serve. Everytime I am new to a certain restaurant I always check the price as well. Gosh! It was very affordable, mouth watering, more tastier, more toppings which I love compared to other pizza in town, the biggest ( 31") would only cost you Php 950.00.

High School is often called the greatest time of our life. It has been 15 years now since we had graduated. We probably lost touch with lot of our old friends . High school is full of fun activities and memories, also a time of many great or not so great memories. At the reunion we can reminisce various activities we had joined such as sports , the dances and we also shared some thrilling topics about dating and silly irrelevant drama of high school with the people who experienced them with you. Time flies by swiftly, high school were over. Right now, we face new challenges and heavier responsibilities of life. A CLASS REUNION is a perfect way to rekindle and nourish those old friendships .

1st Blood Letting Drive of SOX Bloggers

The very 1st Blood Letting and Typing Drive of SOX Bloggers was a huge success. It was held at Robinson's Place of General Santos City. This almost 4 hours activity was able to gathered 8 bags from walk-in donors. Many of us bloggers would like to donate but we failed for the first screening due to lack of sleep because we have visitors (bloggers eyeball) from Manila, taking medications, blood pressure were up, young bloggers have not reach 50 kgs. required to donate, and coughing but at least we tried and like to help. It was only Sir Gilbert Tan who passed among the bloggers who attend the said activity. You rock!

The Red Cross Volunteers of Gensan and Dr. Teves was very friendly to make the donor very comfortable to the procedure and interview to make sure you are healthy to donate. Some of us gave flyers outside the mall and guess what? For the time I did that, some accept the flyers I gave the others just ignored me.

This is an achievement for us bloggers because we were able to help in our own little way to save someone life. Due to the high dengue cases here in Philippines we were able to help. I know someone who passed away 2 weeks ago because of dengue. Happiness what we feel after the activity.

At St. Gemma's Orphanage with SOX Bloggers and Orphans

Since we have so many remaining food we decided to visit St. Gemma's Orphanage, Novitiate Compound and shared the food with them. The eyes of the 21 orphans was so happy to see us. There we meet Ms. Jean the caretaker.

That was long day but it was very meaningful to all of us. Everyone felt HAPPINESS in our heart after the activity. Looking forward for more community service for a good cause. Mabuhay ang SOCCSKSARGEN BLOGGERS!

3D at Robinson's Place Finally Opens Tomorrow

Good news too all generals! I've heard from "Bariles" that tomorrow May 20, 2010 will be the first day of SOCCSKSARGEN to experience 3D Cinema at Robinson's Movieworld and will be showing SHREK The Final Chapter for only Php 120.00 the price is very reasonable compared to the cinemas in Cebu and Manila which cost higher like 300 above.

I experienced 3D in Disneyland Hongkong and Enchanted Kingdom but that was only a very short movie. It was so great and I feel like I was part in the movie.

Manny Pacquiao "Landslide" Vote in Congressional . What would he feel now since he is now the Congressman in Sarangani , Philippines? Manny P. is very lucky that he is a Champion Boxer, country's most famous athlete and now a Congressman. He wins versus Chiongbian who is now 61 years old.

The vote tallies weren't complete yet, PAcquiao's got 90,000 votes already out of 125,000 registered voters made it mathematically for Manny impossible to lose . You rock! Many people in Sarangani loves you so dearly. This is one of PAcman greatest achievement aside from inside ring.

Christian Bautista called " Asia's Romantic Balladeer". He is also known in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

He was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Used to be an Architect before entering showbiz. One of the finalist for a Star In A Million a reality TV show aired in ABS-CBN, a model and an actor.

In this fight Joshua Clottey just always make a defense of himself and rarely release threw a punch. Until at the 12 rounds. The judges gave the most scores to Pacman and he win by the shoutout of the people. Well, this is for sure the end of Clottey's boxing career.

I personally talked to Mommy Dionisia that she liked to have a balloon for the blessing of her home which was recently blessed last Feb. 18, 2010. It is a gift from his son Manny Pacquiao. She's very warm person, kind hearted and easy to talked with. People was so busy that day while I was making a balloons decoratrion. There was 300 guest invited.

Cake Contest

My friend Che arrived here in General Santos City last July 31,2009 from Manila at 2 p.m. and back to Manila on the next day. What very short stay. We decided to hang-out at Giacominos among with the other group of friends. Everywhere I go camera is always in my bag. Took some shots during our gathering. Side A Band concert in General Santos City was a huge success. After 10 years they came back to gensan. It's not only the lead singer who sang a song but all of them. The crowd was carried away specially to their hit song " Forevermore" and ' Hold On'. I am so happy that I got a chance to see them in person and had my two gold tickets and gift certificate courtesy from Grab a Crab which I won from SEO blog contest of "Bariles". Manny Pacquiao was described as a sport's top gun and Lethal weapon. Watched his fight with my group of friends yesterday. Pacquiao has done the Philippines proud. The whole place comes to a standstill when he's fighting and the fight was shown live on TV.

I felt so sad of what happened to Hatton. He need extensive treatment and he will now need a serious assessment of just where to go next. I was expecting the fight would reach to round 6 or less.

Pooh is notable of his ability impersonating international boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. Pooh derived his screen name from Manny "Pooh" Quiao. His real name is Reynold Garcia a great performer on stage and multi awardee . Here's video clip which I got it from youtube to give you an idea how good he is as a stand-up comedian. The first time I saw him on Wowowee he made me laugh so hard by his jokes. It comes out so natural.

While Kay Brosas do some acting comedy scene and sings well. A the lead singer of the band namely K and the Boxers who popularized the song "Sasakyan Kita". Would like to share this video clip with you guys.

After the wonderful experienced of zip line at Xelerator from Outland Adventure we were all so exhausted and starving from that 10 minutes walked going up to the steep mountain. We directly went to Ranchero Grill for lunch with the other bloggers led by Avel Manansala ‘ Bariles”. Davao Food Appreciation Tour ( DFAT) started. When we entered the restaurant I really appreciate the homey atmosphere of the place. For lunch we had:

What's in Generals Brew? It is a newly opened cozy coffee place located at Pioneer Avenue beside Landbank owned by Ms. Letty Du. A very unique place to hang out with your family and friends. It is unique because they have a performer play acoustic guitar. They served something which you can't find to other coffee place. They served Gourmet Coffees, other Beverages, Gourmet Sandwiches (Rye, Ciabbatta and Croissant) , Combo Meals, Cakes, Pasta, Green Salads, Breakfast meals and Kakanin. Blugre Coffee is now in GENSAN

A newly opened coffee shop is now in gensan ' BLUGRE COFFEE' at JMP Building, South Osmena St. . It officially opened last February 26,2009 and it is open from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. It is owned by Manny and Jinky Pacquio the first franchisee. They also serve meals. Blugre' Coffee is known for the signature drink DURIAN GATCHPUCCINO, a hot capuccino with durian fruit. That name is derived from the name of the owner and a very famous fruit of Davao which is durian.

Blugre Coffee has branches in Davao one in SM Davao and Matina Town Square. I was able to have a cup of coffee in Matina Town Square few years ago and it's cool place to go.

Blugre' Coffee is actually a couple's clothing business under the brand Blugre'. But because they love coffee it led them to put up a coffee place.

It so happened I was invited for the 2nd Plurk Fiesta which was held in Blugre last Feb. 26, 2009. We were able to try the coffee, ice blended capuccino and few chips which was served for free for GenSan Plurkies ( Bariles, RainCindy, Sheng, Gilbert Tan, Samara Fae, Jes, Tanchi, RammyBoi, Leonard Pe , kyawster, Jinky) . Too bad the wifi isn't ready yet that night. We also had a chance to take photograph with the owner. He is very nice and very accommodating. I was able to say this because on the second night right after Plurk Fiesta I went back to coffee place and he still remember me and welcoming me back.. Blugre' is WIFI zone on the second night..

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION:

General Santos City lies at the southern part of the Philippines. It is located at 6°7'N 125°10'E. The city is southeast of Manila, southeast of Cebu and southwest of Davao. The municipalities of Alabel, Malungon and Maasim of Sarangani Province and the municipalities of Polomolok and T'boli of South Cotabato surround the city. Fertile agricultural lands at 17,489 hectares are 32.63% of the city's total land area.

CLIMATE :

Is favorable. It is outside of the typhoon belt. Dominated by low plain areas and with evenly distributed rainfall, it is suitable for agricultural-based industries.

POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS:

Generel Santos City, which has 26 barangays with a total land are of 53,606 hectares, belongs to the First Congressional District of the Province of South Cotabato under Region XII. History of General Santos City

On February 27, 1939, General Paulino Santos led the first and largest batch of settlers organized under the National Land Settlement Administration to the shores of Sarangani Bay. The 62 pioneers, who mostly came from Luzon, industriously tilled Cotabato's fertile expanse of land. After this first influx of pioneers, thousands more from Luzon and Visayas migrated into the area.

In January 1948, by virtue of Republic Act No. 82, Buayan District became a full fledged municipality whose territorial boundaries included the present municipalities of Sarangani and South Cotabato Provinces, namely Alabel, Glan, Malapatan, Malungon and Polomolok. NLSA Hospital Administrator Irineo I. Santiago became its first mayor.

Six years later, in June 1954, the Municipality of Buayan was renamed General Santos as a tribute to its great pioneer. This was made possible by Republic Act No. 1107 authored by Congressman Luminog Mangelen of Cotabato Province.

From 1963 to 1967, during the incumbency of Mayor Lucio A. Velayo, an upsurge in the municipality's economy was experienced as several large agri-based corporations such as Dole Philippines, General Milling Corporation and UDAGRI expanded into the area. Although it was then qualified to become a fourth class city, the residents rejected a move by Congressman Salipada Pendatun to convert General Santos into a city and to rename it Rajah Buayan.

Finally, on July 8, 1968, upon approval of Republic Act No. 5412, the Municipality of General Santos was converted into a city while keeping its name. It was inaugurated on September 5 of that year. Antonio C. Acharon became its first city mayor. In 1988, two decades after its inauguration, it was declared as a highly urbanized city.
